Great Uses For Lemons

The many uses for lemons, by Barbie's Beauty Bits
Yeah, I know, the thought of cleaning can sometimes make us in a "sour" mood. But here are some great bits on how to turn lemons into lemonade!

Destroy Stinky Odors With Lemons
Nothing is more frustrating than a stinky garbage disposal. I mean, “Hey that’s why you put the food in the disposal as opposed to the trash can.”  Unfortunately, it doesn’t always prevent stink. Although there are some products out there you can buy to help alleviate this odor, nothing can stand up to fresh lemon juice!

How To:
Run your garbage disposal and flush with water; while you are doing this cut some lemons.  Turn off the water and place the lemon wedges in the disposal, one at a time, while running the disposal… no more stink!

Another bad odor is stinky food like sour kraut or cabbage.  You can use lemon with this as well, by adding it to the cooking water.

Clean Mirrors With Lemons
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who has the cleanest mirror of them all?
Answer: If you use lemons, you do!  Fresh lemon juice will remove toothpaste, makeup, hairspray, and other gook on your mirror.  Depending on how dirty the mirror is, you have a few options. You can use straight lemon juice with a cloth, or a job that is not that intense, you can mix some lemon juice with some water in a spray bottle, and wipe with some newspaper.

Remove Wine From Your Shirt With Lemons
No more whining over a stain!

We’ve all been there, when we’ve spilled some red wine on a cotton shirt. We’ll no need to wine any more about this stain, as lemon juice can remove that too.

How To:  Create a paste, by combining salt and lemon juice; apply the paste to the stain and rub, and wash.  If it is an item that you would consider gentler, soak it with the mixture and wash it after.

OPIs Nail Lacquer Review

OPIs Nail Lacquer,Crown me Already review by Barbeis Beauty Bits Crown Me Already is part of the Miss Universe collection. Aside from the name, that I so love, this polish really nailed it in my manicure kit.   Especially, with the holiday’s right around the corner, there is no better time than now to try this glimmer of color. It worked wonders as it is a great way to add that needed glitz without going overboard!

Crown me already nail polish review by barbies beauty bitsCrown Me Already has a clear base with silver glitter chunks.  The glitter chunks are what makes this polish rock.  It gives you many options, whether a light coat during the day and a heavier look in the evening, I really liked it.  The best look was when I applied it over a colored nail polish, it’s just the sparkle you need this holiday season.

The only negatives I have  with this polish is the same I have with most glitter polishes, which is removal, it is not easy.

DIY Bits For Aluminum Foil

It’s A Wrap
Crazy Things You Can Do With Foil

Tips on how to keep you cats off your furniture by Barbie's Beauty BitsProtect Your Furniture From Your Cats: When you’re away the cat will play… but not today.  Cats, do not like the sound of foil and more importantly they’d flick their claw at the idea of feeling it on their paws, they hate it!  So, if you want Fluffy to stay off your furniture when you are out of town, cover the seats with aluminum foil. This also works on items you wish your animals wouldn't chew, as they hate the feeling in their mouth.

Using Foil As A Dryer Sheet, By Barbie's Beauty BitsDryer Sheets:  This one my girlfriend, Teresa told me about.  I would have never believed it, but I gave it a spin this weekend and it worked wonderfully.  Plus, it is economical as the same ball lasts for months.

So how to?  All you need to do is ball up the foil, and place it the dryer.  Keep in mind the type of garments you use it with.  Keep it away from delicates.

...Well That's A Wrap!

How To Prevent Your Hosiery From Running

Stop Running...
Your Pantyhose That Is

This is an issue that we still “run” into, especially if you work in the corporate world, where pantyhose are perceived as professional attire.   If you are one who is trying to get more use out of your hosiery, here are some BB Bits for you

Salt: Try soaking them in salty water before you wear them. Mix a ½ cup of salt for each quart of water & let them soak for 30 minutes.  Than wash as usual!

Freeze Them! Yes, you read it right, I said Freeze them.  Before you wear your hose for the first time, stick them in the freezer over night.  The next day while you’re getting ready for work, take them out and put them on when you ready to go out the door.  Why does this help?  Well, the cold strengthens the fibers in the hose, which will help them from running so quickly!

Cut Your Toenails. One reason for runs is because the hose catch on your toenails.  If you keep them short and tiding, you won’t have to worry about a nail getting caught in the fabric as you’re putting them on, or taking them off!
