Getting older has its ups and downs! The downside for me are the wrinkles and the puffiness I get under my eyes.  While I’ve taken the right steps in maintenance and repair in my skincare regimen, stress seems to supersede all those efforts! And tired looking eyes are waiting for me come midweek!

My Experience

 

PHOTO: NO MAKEUP ON MY FACE

First, out of all the anti-aging and skin care products I've tried,  I've never experienced this before. The product most certainly is instant as it reads on the box.  It's hard to explain, but I would describe the serum as an anti-aging band-aid, as it smooths & tightens the area you apply it.  You can feel and see your skin becoming taut when using.  Basically, the gentle tightening effect you feel is similar to one of those peel off masks.

As you can see in the photo above there is a difference between the two under eye areas. I didn't have any makeup on my face at all.  The firming serum temporarily smoothed out the sagginess I have under my eyes and minimized some of my wrinkles.

I did try to use it by mixing it into my foundation the 2nd time around, and while I don't have a photo up of that, I did prefer this method better.  I, however, wanted you to see a photo where I barely had on any eye makeup and no facial makeup what so ever.  

A Bonus: While there are no claims that I noticed on the product about reducing wrinkles elsewhere, I did apply it between my eyes, where I have been starting to get some stress lines.  You can see from the photo above how it smoothed out the skin1 YEAH!

Lastly, I couldn't get it close enough to my lash line, by using my finger the first two times to apply.  Therefore, I am going to try spread the serum with a disposable eyeliner brush the next time around.  I want to be able to get closer to my eye, to minimize the line I have near my lash line.

Discover The Top Beauty Tips For The Winter

While the weather outside may be frightful, this doesn’t mean your makeup needs to be as well.  Being in the midst of these cold winter months, our beauty regimen can sure be effected by these blistering cold winds.  So today, I wanted to share with you some of my tips to still have that radiant beauty, even in the winter months.

Lips:
Prep your lips with exfoliation and moisturizer.

• Moisturize: Your lips can get really dry and flaky in the winter months. Making your pout not so irresistibly soft.  Therefore it is important to moisturizer your lips.
• Lip Products:  Stay away from using a thick lip gloss.  The cold wind makes it a complete mess when your find your hair or even the fuzz from a scarf, sticking to your lips.  Instead go with a moisturizing lipstick.
• Exfoliate: To remove the access dead skin you want to exfoliate your lips.  You can do this with a lip exfoliating product, like this one for under $3 from ELF,  that sloughs away the dryness and replenishes providing instant hydration.

Hair:
Hats: I love hats and I’m not talking about a baseball hat. But a cute trendy one, like a newsboy cap or fedora. On top of being fashionable, and keeping you warm, you get another hair day as you don’t have to wash it, but rather just style it around the hat. Also, it can be an old faithful as I’d like to call them, to help when you are in a rush.   

Eyes: 
If you are bundled up in the cold winter, with a hat and even a scarf, the only thing that is really seen are your eyes and brows.  So while drawing attention to this area, make sure it is a sight worth to be seen.

• Brows: You must not only maintain but groom.  Maintaining brows is like coloring your hair and not fixing it.  You need to take that extra step and purchase a brow kit, especially in the winter months. 
• Mascara:  This is one thing that I can’t live without, but I make some changes in the winter months.
• Product: Knowing the cold winter winds can be brutal causing your eyes to water, I change up and use  water proof mascara.
• Application: If you don’t want to use a waterproof mascara, then you need to make sure that you are only applying your mascara to your top lashes. This can help minimize the raccoon eyes from the cold winds.

Skin:
Dry flaking skin is a nightmare to dry to apply makeup on.  This is one are you cannot neglect your skin in the winter months!

• Starting Off Right.  To help the process along, I always recommend to start with a clean face.  But keep in mind washing your face too much with harsh chemicals can actually dry your skin out, which can lead to premature wrinkles.  This is why I recommend using the MAKEUP ERASER.
• Exfoliating your skin will allow your products to better absorb, leaving you with better looking skin. This can also be accomplished by using the MAKEUP ERASER.
• The order in which you apply your products can have an impact on the results.  This is why I am a strong believer in layering your skin care products.  Make sure you start with a clean face. You then want to apply your thinnest products first, like an anti-oxidant, next add the serum. Then seal it with a moisturizer, lastly add an SPF.   (Believe it or not you can get a burn in the winter from the wind and also the snow will reflective the sun right in your face). 

Glow:
Highlighting and Contouring: 

• Perfect your highlighting & contouring routine. This will give you that right amount of vibrancy in the winter months.  
• Be careful as not to have that cake on look. You want to balance out your cream and powdered products.  You can either stick with all creams or all powders.  
• Having a heavy hand on both will cause you to get that caked on look, and in the winter if your skin is dry, you will emphasize your imperfections, and even make yourself look older.
• Get the right products:  When contouring, you want to stay away from the orange or red based bronzers.  Instead you want to stick with ones that have a grayish tone to it, this will give you a more natural sculpted look. One product I suggest is actually a eyeshadow, as it has a combination of gray, brown and beige. (MAC Eyeshadow - Omega)
• Highlighting: When highlighting you want to stick with a yellow based product, instead of white.

Costs: 
The cost of having to change up what is in your beauty arsenal because of the season changes can be frustrating.  However, I have a great way to save on costs.

It's skincare month, where I will be testing out a few different skin care products all month long.  I am very excited to share with you two new skin care products that I've been using for the past few days, from EXUVIANCE®.  If you follow my blog you know that I’m always looking for maintenance, repair and prevention skin care regimens. And when I was able to try out some products from the EXUVIANCE® line, I was thrilled.

Now before I go into the product, I want to let you know that I believe that every person has a different expectation & need(s) of their skin care products.  Therefore, it is important that we are focusing on products that will help our concerns instead of looking for the next big fad.

The Products I'm Testing: The NEW Exuviance Illumination Duo.  This set includes the Evening Restorative Complex, with the 100% pure active formulation of a Vitamin C+ Antiaging Booster, creating a potent antiaging cocktail that combats the visible signs of aging, while you sleep.  Well fill her up, I’m ready for this sleepytime cocktail!

Evening Restorative Complex:  This comes in 1.75 oz jar and has a clean refreshing scent, which was a nice surprise as I am not a fan of strong smelling creams. This cream contains PHA's that offer powerful anti-aging benefits without irritation as well as bionics, vitamins A, C and E.   Unlike some anti-aging products, the bionics are harmless and are natural compounds that deliver great benefits without redness, flaking and most important to me, no stinging! Lastly, this formula reduces the risk of free radical damage.

Exuviance Vitamin C+ Anti-aging Booster, 0.35 oz:  This 100% pure active vitamin C formula, comes in a powder that you have to add to the evening complex.  This booster amps up the effects of the Evening Restorative Complex helping to increase elasticity and firmness.

My Thoughts:  Although, I have only been using this product for 4 days, I can already see a difference in my skins texture and appearance, especially when I apply my makeup.  This product is supposed to improve fine lines, while leaving your skin smoother.  It has left my skin smoother, but the rest, it’s too soon to see those effects. 

How to Use This: 

1. Use daily, but apply in the evening and keep it on all night.
2. Place a small amount of the Evening Restorative Complex in the palm of your hands.
3. You then want to add up to ½ scoop of the Vitamin C+ Anti-aging Booster with the handy little scooper they provide.
4. Mix the two products together in the palm of your hand. 
5. Once mixed apply all over your clean face.
   

IMPORTANT:  When applying you want to take into consideration that you are going to be sleeping with this on your face and it could end up in your eyes.  I'm sure most are aware that you need to not apply to the eye area, but you need to make sure to stay far away from it!  I made this mistake the first night of getting a bit to close and I woke up with it in one of my eyes. So please, be cautious when applying.

Sensitivity:  The 3rd night I started to notice some sensitivity, so I drew back on the amount of Vitamin C+ that I added.  Keep in mind, you should never use more than a ½ scoop per application.

One last thing I want to suggest is to make sure you have your hair up when you go to bed.  The lotion is a bit heavy and you can feel it on your skin.  Therefore, you don’t want to make your face even greasier by adding hair to the mix and vice versa.
