Effective Derma Solutions For Acne-Free Skin

Effective Derma Solutions For Acne-Free Skin

Acne can be a persistent problem, but there are many effective derma solutions available to help you achieve clear, acne-free skin.

In this guide, Barbie's Beauty Bits will walk you through some of the best treatments and practices to keep your skin healthy and glowing.

Know Your Skin Types

First, you need to understand your skin type. Acne can affect all skin types, but how you treat it can vary. If you have oily skin, you're more prone to acne due to excess sebum production. Dry skin can become irritated easily, leading to breakouts.

Combination skin has areas that are both oily and dry. Knowing your skin type helps you choose the right acne products and treatments, like using dermatologists' recommended medication such as Accutane Isotretinoin..

Cleanse Regularly

Cleansing your skin is essential, but you must do it gently. Harsh scrubbing can irritate your skin and worsen acne. Use a mild cleanser twice daily to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Look for cleansers with ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, which can help reduce acne. However, opt for a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser if you have sensitive skin.

Exfoliate Your Skin

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells that can clog pores and cause acne. Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week. Avoid harsh physical exfoliants that can damage your skin. Instead, opt for chemical exfoliants - these exfoliants help unclog pores and promote cell turnover.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Even if you have oily skin, moisturizing is crucial. Skipping moisturizer can lead to your skin producing more oil to compensate for dryness. Choose a non-comedogenic, oil-free moisturizer that won't clog your pores. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid can hydrate your skin without making it greasy.

Explore Spot Treatments

Various targeted skin care treatments for acne-prone skin can be very effective at treating acne. Spot treatments with benzoyl peroxide can kill bacteria and reduce inflammation. Retinoids, which are vitamin A derivatives, can unclog pores and prevent new acne from forming. Always use these treatments as directed to avoid overdrying or irritating your skin.

Use Serums

Serums can be powerful allies in your fight against acne. Look for serums with ingredients like niacinamide, which can reduce inflammation and improve skin texture. Vitamin C serums can help brighten your skin and reduce acne scars. Apply serums after cleansing and before moisturizing.

Avoid Touching Your Face

Your hands come into contact with many surfaces and can transfer bacteria to your face. To prevent acne-causing bacteria from spreading, avoid touching your face throughout the day. Also, keep your phone screen clean, as it often touches your face and can contribute to breakouts.

Follow A Healthy Diet

Your diet plays a significant role in your skin health. Foods high in sugar and dairy can sometimes trigger acne. Incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your diet. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated and flushes out toxins.

Manage Your Stress Levels

Stress can trigger acne flare-ups by increasing the production of hormones that stimulate oil glands. Practice stress-management techniques like yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises. Adequate sleep is also essential for maintaining healthy skin.

Consult A Dermatologist

If over-the-counter treatments aren’t working, it might be time to see a dermatologist. A dermatologist can provide prescription treatments like topical retinoids, antibiotics, or oral medications. They can also offer procedures like chemical peels or laser therapy to treat acne.

Have Good Hygiene

Good hygiene is essential for preventing acne. Change your pillowcases regularly to avoid transferring oil and bacteria to your face. Clean your makeup brushes frequently to prevent bacteria buildup. Avoid sharing personal items like towels or makeup to reduce the risk of spreading bacteria.

Consistency Is Key

Consistency is key when it comes to acne treatment. Stick to your skincare routine and give products time to work. It can take several weeks to see significant improvements. Avoid switching products too frequently, as this can irritate your skin and worsen acne.

Use Sun Protection

Sun exposure can worsen acne and lead to hyperpigmentation. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days. Look for sunscreens that are non-comedogenic and oil-free to avoid clogging your pores.

Track Progress

Keeping a skin journal can be incredibly helpful in identifying what works and what doesn’t. Note any new products you try, how your skin reacts, and any changes in your acne. This can help you and your dermatologist make informed decisions about your skincare routine.

Change Your Skincare With The Seasons

Your skin’s needs can change with the seasons. In the winter, due to the dry air, you might need more hydration. In the summer, you might need to focus more on oil control and sun protection. Adjust your skincare routine accordingly to keep your skin balanced and healthy year-round.

Utilize Non-Comedogenic Makeup

If you wear makeup, make sure it’s non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores. Avoid heavy, oil-based foundations that can exacerbate acne. Mineral makeup is a good option as it’s usually lighter and less likely to cause breakouts.

Avoid Overwashing Your Face

While it’s important to keep your skin clean, overwashing can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Stick to washing your face twice daily and using a gentle cleanser that doesn’t dry out your skin.

In Conclusion

Achieving acne-free skin takes time, patience, and the right approach. By understanding your skin type, using gentle yet effective treatments, and so on, you can significantly reduce acne and enjoy clear, healthy skin.

Clear, Radiant Skin: Tips For Dealing With Facial Impurities

Clear, Radiant Skin: Tips For Dealing With Facial Impurities

Do You Long for Clear, Radiant Skin? Facial Impurities Don't Have to Stand in Your Way

We all know the feeling of looking in the mirror and wishing for skin that reflects how healthy we feel on the inside. But for many of us, facial impurities like blemishes or uneven texture can become a source of frustration. The good news is that achieving clear, radiant skin is possible!

In this guide, Barbie's Beauty Bits is here to help. Whether you're battling breakouts, dryness, uneven skin tone, excess oily skin, or simply seeking a more effective routine, we'll provide expert advice and practical tips to help you ditch those imperfections and embrace the confidence that comes with healthy, glowing skin.

Keeping Your Face Clean: Start With A Clean Slate

Keeping your face clean is crucial for maintaining healthy and glowing skin. Wash your face twice daily, in the morning and evening, to get rid of dirt, excess oil, and makeup. Even if you don't wear makeup, pollution, and grime can accumulate on your skin throughout the day.

How should you wash your face? To achieve a thorough, gentle cleanse, we recommend using a two-step process called double cleansing. This entails using an oil cleanser (oil attracts oil) to eliminate makeup, dirt, and oil, followed by a gentle cleanser to deeply clean the skin.

Adding this to your daily routine can eliminate impurities clogging your pores. This not only prevents acne and other skin problems, but it also helps your skin care products work better.

The Key To Flawless Skin: Gentle Exfoliation For A Radiant You (and Why Less is More!)

Many people with acne mistakenly believe scrubbing their face harder will lead to clearer skin. However, this can damage the skin barrier, making breakouts worse—the secret lies in gentle exfoliation.

Exfoliation is essential to any skincare routine because it removes dead skin cells that can clog pores and contribute to blemishes, black and whiteheads. It also promotes smoother, healthier-looking skin. However, it's crucial to use a gentle touch. Over-exfoliation can strip away the skin's natural oils, leading to irritation and dryness.

Here's a bonus: regular, gentle exfoliation can even help with flawless makeup application! Dead skin cells can create an uneven surface, causing makeup to cake and highlight imperfections instead of concealing them. Removing this layer improves the skin texture, creating a smooth canvas for your makeup to glide on flawlessly.

Prevent Clogged Pores With Non-Comedogenic Skincare

Choosing "non-comedogenic" skincare products is essential to prevent clogged pores, which often lead to acne and breakouts. These products are designed to care for your skin without causing oiliness or acne, making them ideal for anyone who wants clear and healthy skin.

Incorporating them into your beauty routine can help keep your skin healthy and clear, minimizing the risk of aggravating existing skin conditions.

Keep Your Hands Off Your Face

There are times every day when we touch our faces without even knowing it. If we keep doing this, dirt, germs, and oil from our hands could get on our faces, clogging our pores and leading to acne.

To keep your skin clear and healthy, you should stop touching your face; you need to break this habit. To keep our skin healthy and free of spots, we should be aware of how often we touch our faces and wash our hands after using them.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: The Unsung Hero To Fighting Breakouts

Staying refreshed is important for hydrated skin because it keeps it smooth and less likely breakout. Aim for eight glasses of water every day to stay healthy and keep your face clear, skin, and beautiful.

Water flushes out toxins, which keeps pores from getting clogged and skin from getting irritated. To take care of your face, stay hydrated all day.

How A Balanced Diet Can Help Prevent Breakouts

The expression 'you are what you eat' is very true, especially when it comes to skincare.

Eating a diet rich in fruits, veggies, and grains can improve skin health as they are high in minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants.

Antioxidants fight free radicals damage, vitamins C and E support collagen production and act like a shield, while minerals like zinc and selenium help regulate oil production and reduce inflammation.

Get Enough Sleep: Why Beauty Sleep Matters

Getting a good night's sleep can do wonders for your skin. When we sleep, our skin goes into a restorative mode, focusing on repairing damage and boosting collagen production. Collagen is the protein that keeps skin firm and youthful.

On the other hand, lack of sleep can disrupt this repair process. It can affect our body's ability to manage stress hormones like cortisol, worsening skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

So, to help your skin heal, renew, and maintain its healthy glow, aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep every night. Consider it a beauty treatment from the inside out!

Reduce Stress To Minimize Acne

When we experience high stress levels, our bodies produce more oil, which can result in breakouts. Therefore, it is crucial to learn how to manage your stress levels.

Engaging in regular exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones can help minimize stress levels. These tips can make you feel better and keep your skin healthy by preventing breakouts caused by excessive worry.

Resist the Urge: Why Harsh Products Harm Your Skin

When you want to get rid of acne, pimples, or dull skin on your face quickly, using strong chemicals or treatments is tempting. These can strip away the skin's natural oils and pH balance, and they often do more harm than good by irritating the skin or making skin problems worse.

It is very important to use gentle, non-irritating skin care products, like an alcohol-free toner and a hyaluronic acid serum, which keeps the skin healthy without damaging the skin barrier. And don't forget sun protection. Protecting your sensitive skin from harmful UV rays is essential.

Patience Is Key For Clear Skin

Achieving clear, glowing skin is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't get discouraged if you don't see results overnight. Consistency is key. Stick to your skincare routine and give your skin time to heal and adjust.

For personalized skin care treatments that target facial impurities directly, consider Houston facials, renowned for its customized approach. A professional can assess your skin concerns and recommend targeted treatments tailored to your needs, like deep cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration. This can help you achieve a healthy, radiant complexion faster.

The Ultimate Guide: 6 Effective Ways to Treat Acne

Discover six effective ways to treat acne in this ultimate guide. Say goodbye to breakouts and hello to clear, healthy skin!

Acne is a common skin condition that affects people of all ages. While it can be frustrating and sometimes even painful, several effective ways exist to treat and manage acne. In this blog post, we'll explore six strategies to help you on your journey to clearer, healthier skin.

Understand The Causes Of Acne

Acne can be a frustrating and sometimes painful skin condition. It's important to identify what triggers acne breakouts for you in order to prevent and treat them proactively. One common culprit is diet, specifically foods high in sugar and dairy.

Stress can also play a significant role in causing acne flare-ups. Additionally, certain skincare products or cosmetics may aggravate your skin and lead to breakouts.

Identifying and addressing these triggers can help you achieve clearer, healthier skin. Feel free to experiment with different preventative measures, whether altering your diet, adjusting your skincare routine, or finding ways to manage stress levels. Remember, what works for one person may not work for another, so listening to your own body and finding what works best for you is essential.

Start An Acne Prevention Routine

Spots, blemishes, pimples, or whatever you call them, are a common issue that millions face daily. Acne can be frustrating and stressful, but it's important to remember that there are ways to prevent breakouts from occurring.

A good approach to taking care of your skin is following a simple and consistent daily skincare routine. You don't need to buy the latest and most expensive skincare products. Instead, discover trustworthy products that suit your skin type and create a routine that involves washing your face, hydrating it, and shielding all areas of skin from harmful environmental factors.

Book A Consultation With A Professional Expert For Acne Solution

It can be frustrating if you're struggling with acne and feel like nothing you do is making a difference. While over-the-counter remedies work for some, some people with acne require a personalized approach. That's where a dermatologist can help with different types of acne.

If you're dealing with acne, booking a consultation with a skincare expert like a dermatologist can provide you with a thorough skin evaluation and valuable advice. These professionals can prescribe personalized acne medications and treatments to help you achieve clear and healthy skin; laser treatments could also be viable.

Furthermore, most professionals share valuable information on their websites that can be helpful. I recently found a valuable resource that delves into the causes of acne and its different types. If you're interested, you can explore it at https://laserskinsurgerypa.com/treatment/acne/

There are many others out there; Google is your friend! However, if you're looking for a local dermatologist in your area, a great place to visit is Realself, where reputable doctors promptly answer consumer questions and showcase unedited before and after photos of their most well-known procedures. They can provide insights into how specific treatments can benefit you. By doing so, you'll gain confidence that you're receiving the most effective solution to address your acne concerns.

Harness The Power Of Over-the-counter Acne Products

Dealing with pesky blemishes can be a real pain, but plenty of effective over-the-counter products help minimize their appearance, including adult acne. One helpful tip is to look for products containing active ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, which can work wonders on existing blemishes.

These ingredients are known for fighting bacteria and reducing inflammation, making them perfect for those annoying breakouts. When choosing an over-the-counter product, read the labels carefully and choose one suitable for your skin type so you do not worsen acne flare-ups.

From dry skin, mild acne, and clogged pores, with a little bit of research and the right products in hand, you can achieve clear, glowing skin in no time!

Try Natural DIY Remedies To Banish Acne

Acne breakouts are frustrating for many of us, but harsh chemicals, over-the-counter creams, and topical treatments can often do more harm than good. Luckily, plenty of natural DIY remedies can soothe and heal irritated skin. Tea tree oil is a well-known anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial agent that can help reduce the appearance of pimples and prevent new ones from forming.

Aloe vera is another powerhouse ingredient with its soothing, antibacterial properties that can calm redness and irritation. And don't discount the power of honey to banish acne - it's a natural humectant that can draw moisture to the skin while also minimizing inflammation. So, why not take a more natural approach to acne treatment with these skin-loving ingredients? Your complexion might just thank you for it.

Minimize Acne With Diet And Exercise

Taking care of your body is key when dealing with acne. One way to do this is by getting regular exercise, which helps improve overall health and can also aid in clearing breakouts.

In addition, it's important to focus on maintaining a healthy diet that includes plenty of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats. By fueling your body with these nutrient-dense foods, you'll give it the necessary tools to fight acne and promote clear skin. Staying hydrated is also crucial, as it helps to flush toxins from the body and keep skin looking and feeling healthy.

Stress Less For Acne-Free Skin

It's no secret that stress can significantly impact our skin. That's why finding ways to reduce stress in your life is crucial. Whether it's taking time for yourself or practicing relaxation techniques like meditation, finding activities that make you feel relaxed can help reduce your stress levels and keep breakouts at bay.

Remember that how you perceive yourself is just as crucial as how you care for your skin. Practicing self-love and kindness is essential, and don't be too harsh on yourself if you experience a breakout. Most importantly, avoid picking your skin, as it can make your acne worse acne and lead to scarring. Avoiding this nervous tick to avoid scarring and help your skin remain healthy and clear.

To Sum It Up

It's evident that taking care of your skin requires commitment and dedication, but the rewards are worth it. As you take the steps to combat your acne and manage breakouts properly, remember to be patient with yourself and trust in the process.

How To Treat Springtime Acne

How To Treat Spring Time Acne By Barbies Beauty Bits

Springtime seems to be the time of year I experience the most skin flair-ups, from redness to acne-prone skin, and I know I am not the only one.

After being stuck inside because of Winter and COVID restrictions, the first signs of warmer Spring weather, you are going to find me outside walking, hiking, or sitting out on my deck. And while this starts to feel like perfection, those rising temperatures can cause the skin to amp up oil production, leading to Springtime breakouts. So if you want to know how to treat Springtime acne, continue reading.

Keep Your Hair Off Your Face
I am pretty good at this, I even sleep with my hair up, but I know many people do not, which is why I am bringing this up. So grab a hair clip, a hat, or a rubber band and pull your hair away from your face when you are exercising and sleeping. You see, when we sweat, small traces of hair products and natural oils from the scalp can transfer to your skin and cause breakouts. Even touching your hair constantly is a big no, no, as your hands will transfer oils and dirt to the hair, which can end up on your face and pillow, which brings us to my next tip of sleeping on a silk pillow.

Sleeping On A Silk Pillow For Healthier Skin
The moisture pulled into a cotton pillowcase can draw in dirt and bacteria, causing damage to the skin.

Also, the dirt on the pillowcase exposes the skin to oxidative stress from free radicals. And free radicals can cause premature aging as it breaks down the collagen and elastin in the skin.

These yuckies breed on cotton pillowcases, especially from the dead skin cells on your scalp and skin! But not on a silk pillowcase. Sleeping on a silk surface means less moisture will be taken from your skin and hair, so less is pulled into the pillowcase.

how cica can help breakouts by barbies beauty bits

Switch To A Lighter Cleanser In The Spring
The heavy moisturizer cleanser you were using in the Winter months can clog your pores. You want to switch to a cleanser to remove that mixture of sweat, makeup, humidity, pollution, and oil from your pores that can cause breakouts and clogged pores. One ingredient that I have been loving lately is CICA and these Cica Cleansing water pads from Meebak are amazing.  They easily wipe away dirt and impurities while toning and soothing skin, all in one single step. It helps control the skin’s oil production and fights free radicals.

Use A Hydrating Moisturizer In The Spring
Another acne myth is you shouldn't use a moisturizer as it will make it worse. Actually, it is quite the opposite. Dry skin that's not moisturized is more vulnerable to irritation, which causes an increase in breakouts. The key is to look for a moisturizer that will hydrate without clogging the pores, draws moisture to the skin, and traps water in the skin's surface, leaving the skin recharged and supple.

Use A Hydrating Sheet Mask
Sheet masks are amazing at brightening, calming, and hydrating the skin for a dewy, glowing complexion. They are one of the best ways to hydrate deep into the layers of skin during usage and forms a lasting moisture barrier, helping to pamper Springtime acne prone skin.

best sheet mask for acne prone skin by barbies beauty bits

Step Up Your SPF
With the beautiful weather, we are going to be exposing ourselves to more sun exposure. And this exposure can dry out the skin, causing the sebaceous glands to go into overdrive. This excess oil is one of the leading factors to the formation of blemishes.

Implement An Acne-Friendly Diet
Fruit and vegetables are amazing foods for a healthy complexion and the best way to hydrate your skin from the inside. They contain antioxidants that can help stimulate collagen production and keep the skin plump and youthful and are also great for acne-prone skin, reducing the inflammatory response that produces certain types of acne symptoms.

A few to consider including in your diet are antioxidant-rich blueberries, detoxifying lemons, antioxidant Tumeric, and omega 3-rich leafy greens such as kale and spinach.

Sweatproof Your Makeup
The best way to sweatproof your makeup is to use products that allow the skin to breathe, decreasing the chance of trapping sweat, oil, and dirt. One thing to consider is using nude makeup products. This is about using makeup in a more subtle way to accentuate your beauty without covering your pores completely.

So there you have it, beauties my tips to treating Springtime acne. And make sure to keep an eye open for some of my other Springtime blog posts in the next few weeks! Until next time!

Top Tips To Banishing Adult Acne With ZAPZYT

Top Tips To Banishing Adult Acne With ZAPZYT By Barbie's Beauty Bits and PRIMP

Acne is not something that only 13 years old’s experience during puberty; it can have an onset later in life as well. Think about, life can be stressful, and this stress can have a negative impact on our body, which can lead to an occasional flare up.

Sucks, yeah, I know. So not only could you be fending off wrinkles but also pimples! So what is a girl to do? Why is this happening as I am not a teenager anymore? Well, fret no more as I have partnered up with ZAPZYT and The PRIMP Network to bring you "11 Ways To Help Banish Adult Acne."

Why Do Women Get Adult Acne

While clogged pores can be an apparent reason, most of us in our 30s/40s are pretty good about managing that.  What we may not always be great at managing is the stress in our lives from our work, children, on the go diets, and more.

These stress factors can contribute to those unexpected zits as they can cause women’s hormones to go into a frenzy and when our hormones are out of whack, it can trigger adult acne!

Now I am not going to get too technical here, but for this post, I reached out to a friend of mine that works at a dermatologist office. And she explained that when women experience hormonal fluctuations due to stress, there is an increase in our cortisol levels, AKA stress hormone. This stress hormone gets broken down by our body into testosterone, and causes our skins oil production to sky rocket, causing a breakout!  And if that wasn’t bad enough it can also break down collagen and elastin, ultimately leading to wrinkles!

If you have experienced long-term problems with acne throughout your teens and adult life, you may need to take action. Procedures from a dedicated acne dermatologist can repair the damage of acne scars, keratosis, and skin issues. The non-invasive treatments are a great way to restore a youthful glow. They simultaneously treat the underlying issues.

Rejuvenating the skin in this way will make you feel like a brand new woman. Still, an ongoing plan will be needed to maintain your clear skin. ZAPZYT could be the answer..

11 Ways To Help Banish Adult Acne By Barbies Beauty Bits

11 Ways To Zap Your Zits

While there is not a magic wand that can banish those blemishes forever, there are some steps you can take to help reduce them, and I have outlined them below.

TIP 1: Reduce Stress
While being told, don’t stress about it is easier said than done, there are some things we can do that can help alleviate some stress, like getting a good night sleep, sex or for me a workout. Yes, a quick workout to me is a great stress reliever, as it can help to take our mind off the stressful day as well as contributing to reducing our cortisol levels, by producing endorphins, which calms you!

TIP 2: Look At The Great Ingredients
An effective zit zapping product can play a significant role in helping to reduce a flare up. It is important to look for products that have some key ingredients in them like salicylic acid, that helps by exfoliating to unclog your pores and benzoyl peroxide that works by killing acne bacteria.

Given that, I am here to share with you ZAPZYT skincare products, to help you zap unexpected flare ups! Before I get into these products, it is important to understand that this product, as well as my tips, are not for people with frequent acne issues, but rather those occasional blemishes due to stress and other environmental factors.

ALSO, I am not a medical professional, as with all my posts I am here to share my knowledge and experiences with a product. So, if you are experiencing severe acne, I would suggest seeking advice from a medical professional first, as this product I am about to share is not for those with extreme acne.

Zap Your Zits With ZAPZYT Products
This line comes with four treatments options. One thing that I liked about this line is that is great at helping to treat your breakouts fast as the last thing we need is to add more stress because of a pimple!

Tip 3: Cleanse
Being a busy bee and always on the go, I am exposing my skin to tons of damaging elements every day. Elements like dust, sweat, and even makeup can wreak havoc on the skin. The ZAPZYT pore scrub has powerful 2% Salicylic acid and natural wax microbeads that gently exfoliates the skin opening the way for the other ZAPZYT products to penetrate more deeply, making them more efficient.

I like this product because proper exfoliation is essential at all times. Not only does it helps to remove that barrier of dead skin cells that can clog our pores, revealing fresh new skin cells, but it also stimulates cellular turnover that can help with making your skin look brightly polished and radiant.

ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel
This pore treatment gel uses 2% Salicylic Acid, oil and water soluble to cut through greasy skin and penetrates the pores putting the treatment in the heart of that nasty pimple!

I liked that this product was an oil free soothing aloe gel formula as sometimes excess creams can clog your pores and dull the appearance of your skin. Plus, aloe when used in skincare, can help in reducing redness while hydrating aging skin.

Tip 8: Your Makeup
Look At The Ingredients
I could do an entire blog post on this, but I will save it for another day.  However, the makeup we are using can cause irritation and dehydration, potentially making your acne stay around longer or lead to more breakouts. So, when you are choosing a foundation, you want to stick with a water-based foundation and stay away from those with alcohol, acrylics, and fillers like mica, silica, and talc.

Makeup ingredients that can cause break out by barbies beauty bits

Remove Your Makeup Before Bed
It is important to remove your makeup every night before you go to bed. Makeup can be magnet and during the day you have picked up dirt and other oils, sleeping in this can lead to clogged pores, it can also contribute to a dull complexion while preventing your skincare products from properly absorbing into your skin.

Tip 10: Beauty Sleep
Beauty sleep is real! The goal is to have 6-8 hours of sleep a night as lacking sleep can cause a lot of adverse effects on your skin besides breakouts, like dark circles under the eyes, bags, and that darn stress hormone can get elevated hurting your skin's quality!

How the lack of sleep can ruin your skin by Barbies Beauty Bits

Tip 11: Eating Healthy
The statement you are what you eat is so true!  Eating foods on the healthier side will make our body feel and look younger.  First, you want to avoid highly processed and preserved foods.  Secondly, reduce the intake of alcohol & salt as these both can cause affect the skin in a negative manner.

I’ll start with this one first as it’s that time of the year, with allergies and colds; you can get a sore throat.  And we all know how painful these can be.  But with apple cider vinegars wonderful antibacterial factors, it is sure to soothe this away.

Ingredients For Sore Throat Remedy:
  • One tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar.
  • One tablespoon of pure organic honey.
  • One cup of warm water.
  • Mix well.
You can also make a formula to gargle. Personally, for a really sore throat I prefer this; I just cut down the water to about ½ cup.

Important: Apple cider vinegar is very acidic, so with any mixture you make, it is imperative that you always dilute it with juice or water.  DO NOT GIVE HONEY or the above mixture to children or infants.

Facial Toner:
Apple cider vinegar is great to treat acne, minimize pores and other skin issues.

How To:
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups of water.
  • Dip a cotton ball or cloth (I prefer to use THE MAKEUP ERASER) into mixture and wipe it all over your face.
  • Like other toners, there is no need to rinse off.
  • You will get used to the scent.  If not, it will start to disappear in about 10 minutes.

Hair Rinse:
I love using this to help remove hair product residue.

How To:
  • I find it best to use this in the sink, instead of the shower.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup water.
  • Wash your hair and apply before you condition.
  • Rinse out and condition as normal.

Razor Bumps & Irritation:
ACV is great for inflamed areas on the skin.

How To:
  • For this, I use the sore throat remedy that has a combo of both honey and vinegar.
  • Simply apply to the skin and leave for about 5-7 minutes and rinse.

My Diet:
The expression "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away", is perfect,in this case.  As I take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily (diluted with some water).  According to a trainer friend of mine, it can help with breaking down some starches, digestion, detoxing and blood sugar control. As mentioned prior, it is important to make sure you don't drink it straight as it can eat away at your tooth enamel & throat.

Lastly, for all of these hacks, you need to make sure you have the correct ingredients.  Starting with the right type of apple cider vinegar, being raw-unfiltered vinegar.  I prefer to use Braggs organic, as it is also unpasteurized and gluten free.  Furthermore, it is important that you consult with your doctor or health-care professional prior.

Acne Face Mapping: What Are Your Zits Saying About You?

Acne Face Mapping: What Are Your Zits Saying About You? By Barbie's Beauty Bits

I heard the end of a TV talk show recently, where they were discussing face mapping, so I decided to do some research on it.  I was surprised to see how many dermatologists have adopted this philosophy, as this viewpoint is from ancient Chinese medicine.  The definition of  face mapping or Mien Shiang means reading the face. Basically, the belief is that your face is map with different zones and each zone represents a different area of the body, that is contributing to the blemishes in that particular region.  Now I am not a medical professional, so read at your own risk.  Furthermore, just because you have a zit between your eyes, I'm not suggesting you are an alcoholic, with a failing liver.  Additionally, this is not an exact science,  I just thought this view point was interesting.  Please read at your own risk and if you have some serious issues, make sure to get with a dermatologist on the matter.

So now that I got that out of the way, let me share with you the different zones and the internal area's of the body, in which it is connected with.

THE ZONES

Zone 1 & 2: The forehead, this is connect to your digestive  system & bladder.

Zone 3:  Between your brows, this is associated with your liver.  My allergist told me about this area years ago, that is was associated with food allergies.  I read that alcohol too, can also lead to blemishes in this zone.

Zone 4 & 5: Around your eyes: Kidneys.  Any dark circles here can represent that you are dehydrated, so make sure you drink plenty of water.

Zone 6: Your nose... The heart. Do you have high blood pressure?  If so, according to the ancient belief this can contribute to redness or blackheads on your nose. Also if  you have issue's in this region it could be a lack of vitamin B.

Zone 7 & 8: Your ears: Kidneys are associated with this part.

Zone 9 & 10: Your cheeks are your respiratory.  If you smoke or eat a lot of sugars you will see problems in this spot.

Zone 11 & 12: Jaw area:  Hormonal imbalances or if you are under a lot of stress, you may see a breakout during those times.

Zone 13: The center of the chin is related to the stomach.  If you have some digestive issues for instance or eat a lot of greasy foods, you may see a breakout on your chin.

Zone 14: The neck area... An Illness:  If your body is fighting a sickness, you may see zits in this section.

So there you have it, whether you believe in this thought process or not, I think it goes to show that there is a correlation with what we eat, both internally and externally within our bodies.  In my opinion, the statement "we are what we eat" proves to be true here.  So, next time you wake up with dark circles under your eyes or a big zit between your brows, remember it could have something to do with that bottle of wine and bag of Hershey kisses you consumed a few days prior.

Do you know anyone who studies this or do you have anymore insight on the topic?  If so, please leave a comment and share with my readers and I.

Until next time, lovelies.
