It’s been a while since I’ve played with some items in my kitchen for a new DIY scrub. A friend of mine has a spa, and one of the featured treatments was an oatmeal scrub. It sounded amazing but wasn’t amazing was the cost. So I decided, what a great idea for a Pantry to Pretty Bit. The recipe is very similar to hers, but 90% of the cost.
What You’ll Need:
¼ cup of ground whole oats. I initially attempted to use an old coffee grinder to grind this, but ended up purchasing it at a store for a finer blend.
1 cup of brown sugar
¼ cup of grape seed oil
One tablespoon of lemon
You can add milk or water to the mix. I added milk.
You want to mix it all in a bowl, to a thick consistency.
Apply to face in a circle motion
Leave on for 30 minutes
Rinse and wash, moisturize as usual
Storage: The mixture will last a while if stored properly. If you have a mason jar or something air tight, I'd use that for storage.
The Benefits: Exfoliation of the skin helps with skin rejuvenation. Hence using a gentle mixture like this oatmeal DIY scrub, you'll be able to use it frequently leaving your skin soft and glowing.

If you are a makeup junkie like myself, the costs can sure add up. But no matter what the product, I am always trying to get the most of out of it. And today I am here to share with you one of my secret weapons.
So, if you want to be able to get an airbrushed makeup look, increase the longevity of your makeup, minimize pores, achieve a bolder intense eyeshadow look, all while saving money. Then continue reading.
What is my secret weapon? It is Makeup Setting Spray. I’ve been using these Facial Spray/setting sprays for years. And this is why I was so excited when I was asked to review Evian® Facial Spray, by the Wilkes Group.
Now don’t let the name fool you. While setting sprays do help to set your makeup like hairspray does your hair, it also has many other uses. And this is why I call it my secret beauty weapon! Now before I get into the insider's tricks, I wanted to let you know about Evian® Facial Spray.
About the Product: Evian® Facial Spray contains a pure, soft, natural mineral water with a unique mineral balance, and a neutral 7.2pH. These properties are why the spray is extremely compatible with the human body. Evian® Facial Spray is suited to all skin types, even if you have sensitive skin.
The Packaging:
Normally, I don’t feel the need to make mention of the packaging, but with this product I think it is essential. This bad boy came in real handy with a recent trip of mine as the canister is leak proof and ideal to fit right in your travel bag. Also, unlike many other sprays, Evian® Spray is sealed at the source. Hence, no unwanted bacteria and contaminants that may irritate the skin or cause breakouts.
Lastly, Evian® is powered by pure nitrogen into millions of tiny micro-droplets. These micro-droplets are the driving force that enable Evian® water spray to be absorbed by the skin. Nitrogen comprises 80% of each breath we take, so there is no effect on the ozone layer.
Without further ado...
the tricks to making your makeup last longer
Primer: Primer is
essential. If you don't start off right, none of these other tips will matter. Without it your makeup will
sit in your pores, create false wrinkles while leaving a dull appearance,
period! On the other hand, when you do use a primer, you'll find that your
makeup will have a much smoother finish while minimizing the appearance of
pores and fine lines.
Airbrush Makeup Application: The Evian® Spray is great for
creating that instant airbrushed
look. I used it on my Beauty Blender,
when I was applying my foundation. Doing it this way prevents your
makeup from settling into fines lines, giving you a flawless, dewy glow
all day long. Simply wet your Beauty Blender with The Evian® Spray, dip it into your makeup of choice and bounce or as they call it in the makeup world, stipple it against your face. Doing it this way will help to prevent makeup lines, leaving you with a seamless, airbrushed movie star look.
Bright Vibrant Eyeshadow: My best tip to creating intense colors is misting my eyeshadow brush with the setting spray. You want the brush to be slightly damp, but not too wet, or it won’t work. I then dip the brush into the eyeshadow and apply it to my primed eye. Doing this is a great way to make your eyeshadows bold and vibrant. Plus, if you are using a drugstore shadow, these sprays are that extra push you need to crafting the same pigmented looks of brand name shadows at half the price.
To Set Your Makeup: After you’ve spent time layering, stippling, blending and more. The last thing you want is your masterpiece to disappear in a few hours. With a good setting spray, you will be able to keep your makeup looking fresh, with minimal touch ups. (Which means saving $$$). How To Use The Spray? Simply hold the bottle a few inches from your face and lightly spray all over your finished makeup look in a circular motion, giving you that seamless look throughout the day.
A Little Pick Me Up: If you find yourself being outside sweating or maybe you don’t have time to go home after work before a dinner date, no worries. This beauty spray can give you that instant pick me up, refreshing your makeup look, so you will only need some minimal touch-ups.
Wanna a little pick me up yourself? Well now you can as the Wilkes Group has a special offer for my readers.
Today, I wanted to share with you a Pantry to Pretty Bit. Getting Gorgeous For Less, With At Home Beauty Creations. Today’s bit is with Apple Cider Vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is one of the great all-time pure goodness remedies from grandma. It contains natural bacteria fighting properties as well as various minerals and other elements that are important to maintaining a healthy body. You can use it to help with skin conditions, as well as some other ailments. See below my Top 5 Beauty Uses For Apple Cider Vinegar.
I’ll start with this one first as it’s that time of the year, with allergies and colds; you can get a sore throat. And we all know how painful these can be. But with apple cider vinegars wonderful antibacterial factors, it is sure to soothe this away.
Ingredients For Sore Throat Remedy:
One tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar.
One tablespoon of pure organic honey.
One cup of warm water.
Mix well.
You can also make a formula to gargle. Personally, for a really sore throat I prefer this; I just cut down the water to about ½ cup.
Important: Apple cider vinegar is very acidic, so with any mixture you make, it is imperative that you always dilute it with juice or water. DO NOT GIVE HONEY or the above mixture to children or infants.
Facial Toner:
Apple cider vinegar is great to treat acne, minimize pores and other skin issues.
How To:
Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups of water.
Dip a cotton ball or cloth (I prefer to use THE MAKEUP ERASER) into mixture and wipe it all over your face.
Like other toners, there is no need to rinse off.
You will get used to the scent. If not, it will start to disappear in about 10 minutes.
Hair Rinse:
I love using this to help remove hair product residue.
How To:
I find it best to use this in the sink, instead of the shower.
Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup water.
Wash your hair and apply before you condition.
Rinse out and condition as normal.
Razor Bumps & Irritation:
ACV is great for inflamed areas on the skin.
How To:
For this, I use the sore throat remedy that has a combo of both honey and vinegar.
Simply apply to the skin and leave for about 5-7 minutes and rinse.
My Diet:
The expression "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away", is perfect,in this case. As I take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar daily (diluted with some water). According to a trainer friend of mine, it can help with breaking down some starches, digestion, detoxing and blood sugar control. As mentioned prior, it is important to make sure you don't drink it straight as it can eat away at your tooth enamel & throat.
Lastly, for all of these hacks, you need to make sure you have the correct
ingredients. Starting with the right type of apple cider vinegar, being raw-unfiltered vinegar. I prefer to use Braggs organic, as it is
also unpasteurized and gluten free. Furthermore, it is important that you consult with your doctor or health-care professional prior.
So there you have it, my Top 5 Beauty Uses For Apple Cider Vinegar. Do you have any tricks or ways that you use apple cider vinegar? If so let me know!
