Before I get into the products, I would like to share some background on the Suzanne Organics line, as there are reasons and passion as to why Suzanne Somers, developed this beauty line.
Many of you may know Suzanne Somers as I do from the popular TV show, Three’s Company. Being on TV, required makeup and lots of it. While I know people are concerned about what is NOT in the products, what is in them is also ever so important, and this is one thing that I liked about the Suzanne Organics Makeup Collection.
The cosmetics in this line are made with skin-nurturing ingredients like shea butter, jojoba, aloe, argan oil, grape seed oil, bamboo powder, tapioca, rich mineral powders, raspberries, oranges, Vitamin E and more. They also use the power of nature to find the most effective botanical actives for clean, beautiful products to feed, nurture and hydrate our precious skin, while providing the needed coverage that makeup should offer, but with a bonus as this makeup is good for your skin!
Organic Chemical Free Makeup
I was fortunate to try out a few products from her makeup line. Testing out the products that I most commonly use which is a foundation, mascara, products to highlight and contour and of course a safe UV Free tan with a self-tanner, as the last thing I want it to look older than I am!
Suzanne Organics Sheer Flawless Foundation
First up is the foundation, and this line has four colors. I selected the honey medium foundation, and I will say that the bottle is misleading to the actual color. Which in my case was a positive as when I first opened the box and pulled out the foundation, I thought it was going to be too dark, but it wasn’t.
The foundation was much thicker than what I like, as I am not a full coverage girl. I prefer to use foundation to create an even based palette so to speak. But after applying the foundation, this too while it is heavier than what I like, had superior capabilities to blend seamlessly, so I was pleasantly surprised with the final look. It was not cakey and did not set into my pores. I did, however, use a primer and a moisturizer before application, which is essential, especially for maturing skin.
Some other things about the foundation
The foundation does have a scent to it, but it is not over powering. It has organic botanical actives like Aloe Leaf Juice, Tea Tree, Jojoba and Grape Seed Oils as well as some antioxidants, which is a much-added value.
A lot of these ingredients, especially the aloe when used in cosmetics, can help in hydrating aging skin. Plus, aloe also works as a toner, which can help with keeping your skin firm and glowing! Just what a forty-year-old needs!!!
Suzanne Organics Perfect Finish Concealer
I was thrilled to see this was a cream based product, as powders, especially when used under the eye can tend to be aging as it settles into fine lines. I prefer a cream base concealer as it is much easier to blend, giving you a dewier look. Plus, it is usually more pigmented hence it perfect for coverage while only using a small amount.
The ingredients in this camouflaging concealer combines organic shea butter and Jojoba with soothing Lavender and Vitamin E. Lastly, I loved that it was also buildable so you can go from sheer to full coverage without looking cakey.
BONUS TIP: The key to preventing your concealer from sitting in your creases is to moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize under the eye area. With aging skin you do not want a matte look, so make sure to combine the over moisturizing with an eye primer, otherwise you are going to have a problem with your concealer caking into your lines.
Suzanne Organics Contour Kit
This powder trio includes an organic Contour, Bronzer, and Highlighter all in one set. This product was the one that I was most excited about as there is so much we can do with contouring kits, like helping to sculpt, define, and highlight our face.
I believe that the older we get that less is more when it comes to some makeup applications. And this trio seems to be versatile enough to allow you to create a very defined and dramatic version or a subtler one that is more elegant and defined, with a focus on highlighting!
As we get older highlighting is a must! It enables us to bring more light in areas, which will offset any imperfections we may have due to loss of elasticity, or fine lines.
To highlight I added the highlighting color down my nose, under my brow bone, on the top of my cheekbone, the middle of my head and the upper part of my lip, which added a radiant glow to my complexion.
One wonderful thing about contouring is you can transform your face. Like giving yourself a thinner face, thinner nose, chiseled jaw or killer cheekbones.
For contouring, I focused on slimming my face by hollowing out my cheeks and adding a more chiseled jaw line by taking my contour brush and sweeping it along my jawline.
Organic Mascara
Mascara is my must have product. If I were only allowed to have one makeup item, mascara would be it. This lengthening mascara was created to define your lashes without artificial colorants or petroleum as the last ingredients we want near the delicate eye area are potentially harmful ones. Suzanne organic mascara contains natural colors combined with the conditioning agents of Aloe and Cocoa Butter that are much safer for the eye area.
SUZANNE Organics Golden Tanning Serum
I live at the beach, so having a bronzy glow in the summer is a must, but it can be so damaging to the skin. Hence you will not find me laying out in the sun. Instead, I get a beautiful UV free glow from a self-tanner. Not only do self-tanners even out your skin tone but they can also revitalize and camouflage any imperfections, like helping to make cellulite less noticeable, yeah, right?
To achieve that natural glow, you need to make sure you plan your tan by prepping properly ahead of time, doing so will help to eliminate some of those major self-tanning disasters!
