The Quickest Way To Chill Wine

The Quickest Way To Chill Wine, By Barbie's Beauty Bits

Wine is one of my loves, and similar to makeup, I have a few DIY tips up my sleeve about it.  If you are having a last minute dinner party and need a chilled bottle of wine quickly, this is a bit you want to know about.

The quickest way to chill wine is with salt! Yes, salt is the magic ingredient to chilling wine quickly.

So How To?
  1. Fill a bucket with ice, water and add about ½ cup of salt.
  2. Place the bottle of wine in the middle of the mixture.
  3. Leave for 10 minutes, and your wine is quickly chilled!
So, why does salt quickly chill the wine? Because salt lowers the freezing point of the ice, hence make the water around it colder quicker.

Cheers, until next time!

A Closer View Of The New Features

As you can see from the above images, you can try numerous shades and color combinations.  However, if you really want to have your eyes stand out and demand the attention they deserve.  Consider using shades with similar hues or colors that are on the opposite end of the color wheel.  By taking this approach,  you will step up your game and really complement the intensity of your eyes.  Don't know what colors to test? Then check out my cheat sheet below on how to find the best eyeshadow for your eye color.

Blue Eyes:
Warmer colors make blue eyes appear brighter.  Also, if you have light eyes (close to gray) you want to stay away from really dark shades, as they can minimize the look of your eyes.

Colors: Copper, gray, rose, champagne, and bronze complement blue eyes the most.

Brown Eyes:
Women with brown eyes have the most color options. Why?  Because brown is neutral and you are not competing with other colors.

Colors: Purple, teal, green, and bronze complement brown eyes the most.

Green Eyes: Violet colors will help to enhance the emerald color in your eyes the most.
Other colors that complement a green eye are rust, wines, and rose gold’s.

Hazel Eyes: You have many options here.  Depending on the color you want to pick up, there is a eyeshadow color to help you do that.

Colors: Burgundy, rust, deep purples, and grays best complement the hazel eye.

Tips On How To Achieve The Winged Eyeliner Look In Real Life

Step 1: Start With A Primed Eyelid: If you are a regular to my blog you will hear me mention primer.  You must prime in order to get long lasting makeup application.  Starting with a base will allow the eyeliner to adhere better. In addition to using a primer, I also recommend, blending some concealer directly under your lash line, to enable your eyeliner to stay all day

Step 2: Use A Great Eyeliner: The last thing you want to do is to use an eyeliner that runs or is really hard to apply.  You want to select an eyeliner that glides on.

Step 3:  Draw A Thin Line Out From The Outside Corner Of Your Eye.

Step 4: Draw A Line Back To Your Upper Lash Line. Creating A Small Triangle.

Step 5:  Fill It In The Triangle.

Step 6:  Apply Eyeliner To The Rest Of Your Lid, In Small Strokes.

Coffee Facials

Coffie facial by barbies beuaty bits

It’s been a while since my last Pantry to Pretty bit.  But today's is one that will really PERK you up!

This tip is from a close friend of mine, who pick this up while in California.  I guess with all the sun there; this spa treatment has been a "Grande" beauty bit… A skin treatment from espresso coffee grounds!   Yes, coffee grounds.  You see coffee grounds contain anti-oxidant agents that help in protecting the skin from free radicals, hence decreasing the risk of skin cancer.  In addition to this, the caffeine contributes to tightening the pores.  Yeah!

Considering, I consume a lot of coffee; this D.I.Y. coffee facial was easy to test out. See the recipe below I brewed up.

Coffee Facial Scrub:
  • 1/4 cup of ground espresso beans
  • 2 table spoons of olive oil or you can use a combination of coconut oil & olive oil
  • Apply to face in a circular motion
  • Leave on for a 4 mins.
  • Rinse
A DIY coffee facial by Barbies Beauty Bits

I applied the mixture to my face, neck and decolletage. I found that this mask helped to remove the dead skin cells, plus I liked how it made my skin feel.  One downside was the grind.  If you are one that is not used to doing a lot of facials, you may want to consider sticking to a finer coffee ground for your face. A larger grind works better for areas you can be a little rougher on. Lastly, the area will be red for a bit, so don't be alarmed.

So there you have a beauties, another Pantry to Pretty Bit, until next time!
