5 Easy Tricks To Getting Your Neutral Eye Shadows To Pop

Disclaimer:  This is a sponsored post on behalf of  Paula Dorf.

I'm going to share with you today, 5 easy tricks to getting your neutral eye shadows to pop.  For this post, I have partnered up with Paula Dorf Cosmetics once again.  They sent me their Aztec City Palette to try.  This palette, has just the right balance of professional and flirty.  I was surprisingly happy with this set, as I’m not always a big fan of nudes!   But, this Aztec collection gave me many options.  I was able to create a basic nude look, use the blue & other classy colors for a vibrant twist and create a mesmerizing mix of all (which was my favorite look). The sleek mirrored case contains a specially designed double-ended brush, along with five shades of shadows that are nicely pigmented.  Additionally, there was minimal fallout with this product, which allowed me to transform my eyes to the bronzed beauty of the desert, with the perfect combination of the bright blue sky.

Before I get into my 5 tips to making your neutrals pop. I want to let you know a little bit about the Paula Dorf Brand. Paula Dorf is famous for unique "trick" products that offer solutions to every woman's makeup concerns. Their products are high quality and admired as the best in the business by fellow professional makeup artists, celebrities and most importantly, makeup lovers from around the world.

So what are my 5 tips to making your neutrals pop?  It’s relatively simple and once you start this, you will become addicted.

Step 1: Start with a primer, but not just any primer.  When I apply neutrals I like to use a primer that comes in a different finish. There are a few colors to choose from, I prefer to use one that has a white or pinkish tone to it.  Aside from increasing the longevity of the eyeshadows, using one of these help to make the eyeshadows more vibrant. How to...  Apply an eyeshadow primer to the entire eyelid, from upper lash line to brow, and don’t forget the lower lash line if you plan to add some color there too!

Step 2: Follow up with a base.  With the base you want to simply apply it over the primer.  Doing so is going to allow the eye shadow to stick to the lid even more.  A creamy base also allows you to intensive the color pay off of the neutrals! If you don’t have a base color, you can improvise with using a nude eyeliner.

Step 3: Layering: When it comes to neutral colors, I like to choose a medium color for my entire eyelid, than layer on the other hues.  The crease of the eye is also an important area, you want to use the darkest color for this spot. So how to.  Simply take your shadow brush and apply your eye shadow, it is important to blend it into the base. You can do this by wiggling it along this area where you applied the base, creating a darker color.

Step 4: Blending. You want your eyeshadow to look effortless, not like a bunch of harsh lines.  The Paula Dorf's palette made it really easy to blend. As the key to great blending is to have 4 to 5 colors, ones to include as nude, a medium color, darker color, and then the darkest.  And for a memorizing look, a pop of color. Which is what I did with the blue in this palette.

Step 5: Finish off the look with a great mascara & falsies.  For this look I used my black mascara, false eyelashes, as well as Paula Dorf's, Teal Mascara.  I used the teal mascara on my bottom lashes and on the corner of my lashes.  I was able to add a few more beauty tricks with the mascara. But you’ll need to check to the video below to see this.. as well as the other looks.

So there you have it beauties, a few tricks to getting your neutral eyeshadows to pop and appear more vibrant.  And just in time for "Black Friday", I have a special offer for you. A free Paula Dorf Teal Mascara with purchase! Use Code TEAL to get the deal!

Beautiful Brows, With A Hint Of Tint

Disclaimer:  This is a sponsored post on behalf of  Lashem.
Views expressed were not influenced in anyway.

Welcome beauties.  Well this is my 3rd post in my bow to the brow series.  Thus far I’ve shared ways to enhance your eyebrows by using a powder with an eye brow wax,  as well as an eyebrow pencil, with a setting serum.  Today, I've saved the best for last, which is a tinting lift with a lash enhancing serum.  I say best for last because this one is fool proof. So, if you are new to perfecting your brows, this one is quicker and the easiest!

For this part of the series I partnered up with the LASHEM brand. Lashem was developed to help women everywhere feel BEAUTYful.  Whether you are a working out of the home or a stay at home mom, Lashem has something for you.

About The Product:
  1. So what exactly is a tinting lift? It a hint of tint, achieved with  a brush on gel, kind of like a mascara for your eyebrows.  This formula helps to keep your eyebrows looking full and perfectly in place, by filling, tinting and sculpting.
  2. Don’t let the name tint, scare you.   While the formula is long lasting, it is not permanent. It comes off easily with a makeup wipe.   This is why I call it a hint of tint!
  3. The applicator: This tapered brush helps to distribute the tinted gel precisely and evenly to fill in gaps while sculpting your brows. I was happy with how it really allows for perfect shaping, enabling you to go from barely there to beautiful brows in a few easy strokes!
  4. This product is paraben-free and contains a brow enhancing serum to promote healthier, stronger, thicker looking brows.
How To:

  • First you want to pick the correct color. The Lashem Colour Strokes Brow Tint is available in multiple shades: Blonde, Brunette, and Raven. IMPORTANT:  I made a mistake in ordering brunette as I didn’t want to go to dark.  The brunette is actually pretty light in color.  So, if you have dark hair like myself I recommend getting Raven. And no worries, Raven is not so dark that you’d have to worry about, here comes the brows.  It too is settle, but does a great job.
  • Similar to all brow products, I like to first start out with the connect the dots approach. When all connected, will form a v shaped arch (with softer angles) for the perfect brow. Click here to see exactly how.
  • You want to apply the gel in short upward strokes along the brow. And no worries, this product is also flake and smudge proof, letting you to use short pressing strokes to fill in the areas where there are no hairs.

So, if you're looking for full natural looking eyebrows, Colour Strokes Brow Tint gives you just that and with a 30% discount!  Yes you read right! Lashem has given me a discount code to share with my readers.  Simply enter in BROW30BB and you're off to beautiful brows in no time!

The bottom line with this bow to the brow series,  is no matter what product you use on your eyebrows  it is in addition to your eyebrow maintenance.  Getting them threaded, plucked or waxed is not enough.  That is like getting your hair cut but never styling it, you need to taking your brows to wow!

10 Makeup Tricks To Make Your Eyes Appear Larger

10 Makeup Tricks To Make Your Eyes Appear Larger, By Barbie's Beauty Bits

Are you frustrated with your eyes appearing smaller than you'd like? And wish there was something you could do that would quickly brighten them up?  Well, look no further! As today, I'm going to give you my top 10 beauty tricks that will help to make your eyes appear larger. I will also include some of the products I suggest!
  1. Concealer: If you have dark circles under your eyes, they can look smaller. To counter that, you want to use a concealer that can help to even out your skin tone while brightening the eye. Product: Camouflage Cream Palette.
  2. Using The Correct Color Combination Or Light Colored Eye-shadowsCorrectly applying eyeshadow is an art.  But using the colors correctly is the first step in opening up the eyes.  If you use dark colors only, your eyes will recede. However, if you combine with lighter shades, they will help to accentuate your eyes.  The light colors catch the light, giving the illusion of larger eyes.  Product: Urban Decay Naked.
  3. Eyeliner:  Over applying dark eyeliner can make your eyes appear smaller, so please refrain from applying to the inside of the lower lash line.  It is ok to apply some eyeliner to the outer lower line. And only about a quarter of the way in from the out corner of your eye.  Do not extend to the tear duct. You can also give your eyes that extra pop by using multiple colors. If choosing this option,  you can extend to tear duct & lower lash line. But you need to select colors that compliment your eyes. Otherwise, you'll make them appear smaller.  Product: Urban Decay Ten 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set.
  4. White:  Using the color white near the inner corner of your eyes and your waterline, will give the illusion of larger eyes.   You can use a white eyeliner, an illuminator, or white eye shadow. Product: NYX Retractable Eyeliner.
  5. A Great Mascara:  If you follow my blog you know I love mascara.  When choosing mascara to help make your eyes appear larger, you want to use one that adds volume and separates.  Too Faced Better Than Sex and Urban Decays Perversion are my name brand mascara favs.  When applying, I like to add more emphasis on the corner of the eyes as well as near the tear duct.
  6. Eyelash Curler: Curl up baby! An eyelash curler has been around for years; there's a  reason for it.  This bad boy can take your limp lashes to curly in 15 seconds.  A curled lash can make your eyes appeared more open.  Product: Heated Eyelash Curler Or a Regular Version for only a $1.00 by e.l.f.
  7.  False Eyelashes: False eyelashes can do wonders for your eyes instantly.  However, applying them can be tricky. But fret no more as the trick to making this foolproof is using the glue correctly.  You want to apply the glue to the upper lash line, instead of applying it directly to the falsie! By doing it this way, you’ll be able to move the lash around, and it won’t stick to places it shouldn’t.  Product: Ardell Lashes & don't forget the glue Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive.
  8. Nude pencil: As I mentioned above, how dark eyeliner can make your eyes appear smaller. Doing the opposite with a nude colored pencil will make your eyes pop. Nude works great for everyone, including those with darker skin or when you wear dark colored shadows, as white can be too harsh for some.   Using a nude eyeliner or even a contouring pencil can help brighten up your look. Product:  Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner.
  9. Eyebrows: Similar to a great frame that can take an ordinary picture to a different level.  I view your eyebrows as such.   Great looking eyebrows can form a frame around your eyes bringing your features forward. Product: e.l.f. brow set
  10. Illuminator: Highlighting is all over the internet; there is a reason for this.  Using a great highlighter/illuminator in the corner of your eyes, your brow bone, as well as dabbing it in the middle of your lid, will give you an instance lift and brighten your look instantly.  Product: Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact
Bonus: I know I said 10 tips, but I decided to give you a little bonus... With a way to test some of these out, prior to purchasing the products.  And the best part is you can do this right from your phone.  How? With the GlamSt. App. the first virtual makeup tester, it’s a makeup lover’s dream come true.

GlamST is an app for iOS that allows you to discover new makeup by choosing the styles you love and trying makeup on your photo.
